JANUARY
January 2 – 8, 2006 Mercedes Championships - A Kapalua Resort Signature Event An elite field of champions from the 2005 PGA TOUR compete in the season-opening event at the Kapalua Resort’s Plantation Course. Participants include two-time defending champion Stuart Appleby, Vijay Singh, Sergio Garcia, David Toms, Jim Furyk, Fred Funk and Justin Leonard.
FEBRUARY
February 10 – 12, 2006 Whale Quest Kapalua The inaugural Whale Quest at Kapalua celebrates Maui’s most famous visitors, the humpback whale, through lectures, interactive displays and events, art and photo exhibitions and whale sightings and interpretive walks. Naturalists from leading scientific institutions join visitors and residents for this fun and interactive weekend. A golf tournament to benefit host charities tees off at The Plantation Course.
APRIL
April 13 – 16, 2006 The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua Celebration of the Arts - A Kapalua Resort Signature Event The three-day festival held at The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua celebrates the rich culture and history of the Hawaiians throughout generations. This is a unique opportunity to experience the authenticity of “Hawaiian heart and soul” through demonstrations in hula and chant, hands-on workshops in Hawaiian art and genuine one-on-one interaction with local Village Gallery artists.
MAY
May 5 – 7, 2006 Kapalua Jr. Vet/Sr. Tennis Championships Now in its 25th year, men and women ages 35-70 enjoy singles and doubles competition in age division play during this exciting event.
May 6 – 8, 2006 Hawaiian Telcom Hall of Fame Pro-Am & Championships Kapalua Land Company, Ltd., and the Aloha Section PGA host the 15th annual Hawaiian Telcom Hall of Fame Pro-Am & Championships at The Plantation Course, featuring a pro-am competition with 28 teams of one professional and four amateurs, as well as a 36-hole stroke play professional competition.
JUNE
June 23 – 25, 2006 Kapalua Clambake Pro-Am Golf Tournament The Kapalua Resort’s golf courses share the challenge for this 20th annual pro-am event. Highlights include awards ceremony and a Clambake Feast at The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua.
June 19 – 23 & 26 – 30, 2006 Junior Tennis Camp Peter Burwash International Tennis Professionals are experienced in working with novice to advanced high school players and will provide each player the opportunity to upgrade their tennis fundamentals and strategies.
JULY
July 6 – 9, 2006 Kapalua Wine & Food Festival - A Kapalua Resort Signature Event Hosted by Fred Dame, Master Sommelier, this renowned event attracts world-famous winemakers, chefs and visitors for a series of wine tastings, festive gatherings and gourmet meals. Celebrating its 25th year, this nationally acclaimed food and wine extravaganza includes alfresco samplings of reserve bottling and the bounty of Hawaii’s ocean prepared by Hawaii’s top chefs.
July 14 – 16, 2006 Kapalua Junior Open Tennis Championship A great chance for the junior players to practice their skills learned at camp and to gain tournament experience. Boys and girls ages 10-18, singles and doubles.
SEPTEMBER
September 1 – 4, 2006 Kapalua Open Tennis Tournament This annual Labor Day tennis championship courts the best in men’s and women’s singles and doubles tennis play, in 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5 and Open division play at the Kapalua Resort’s award-winning Tennis Garden.
September 8 – 10, 2006 LifeFest Kapalua - A Kapalua Resort Signature Event LifeFest Kapalua is Hawaiis premier health and wellness event that combines programs to educate the mind, rejuvenate the spirit, encourage fitness and promote indigenous Hawaiian cultural practices. Participants attend various seminars and interactive workshops by renowned speakers, local Hawaiian healers and spiritual practitioners.
DECEMBER
December 1, 2006 The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua Tree Lighting Ceremony A flick of a switch and more than 250,000 lights illuminate the holiday tree and dozens of pine and palm trees around The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua.
December 17, 2006 The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua Teddy Bear Tea® Children and their “beary” best friends are invited for an afternoon of storytelling, games and tea.
