Why stay connected? What does it mean to stay connected?
How can I stay connected in my full swing? Staying connected is the key to more
consistent shots that fly straighter and further!
Try this simple drill. At set up, feel and notice the inside
of your left bicep touching the side of your left pectoral muscle. You are now
connected. Take several half swings and keep the connection. Begin hitting balls
placed on a short tee and I think you'll begin to be amazed at the distance your
shots will fly. To really feel this connection, tuck a small golf towel under
each armpit and hit 10-15 shots making only a half swing. Don't let the towels
fall out! Many golfers swing the club out and away from their bodies with their
hands and arms thus producing a weak arm swing motion. This big high swing may
feel powerful and "look" like the guys on TV, but it is all about lack of power
and inconsistency. Slowly begin to let your backswing and downswing get bigger
and enjoy this simpler more efficient swing!
Remember, if you keep doing what you're doing, you'll keep
getting what you're getting.
