Maui Eco-Adventures - "2005 Eco
Tour Operator of the Year"
Kahakuloa
Valley boasts one of the most important culturally and historically
oriented experiences that you can encounter in Hawai'i.
Your air-conditioned van will take will take you north around
the West Maui Mountains along the "forbidden road"
to Kahakuloa Valley. Along the way you'll enjoy several
scenic vistas with narration of history and folklore. This
adventure tours a private Hawaiian village allowing the
opportunity to live, if only for a short time, the ways
of old Hawai'i. This opportunity is so rare that guests
want to do it all over again. Kahakuloa is the home to several
families who live and practice ancient Hawaiian customs.
Living on an active Ahupua'a (traditional Hawaiian land division)
still managed by a Konohiki (supervisor of the land),
most of the families continue to work and care for the land
as their ancestors have for over 1,500 years. Amenities
include fresh hot coffee, muffins, fresh fruit, bottled
water and a LifeFest Kapalua T-shirt.
