Visitors
to Kapalua can learn about its natural and cultural history by following the Ala
Hele Kapalua, or "Heritage Trail." This self-guided walking tour
follows the main roadway and makes a loop through the resort with monuments marking
historical points of interest. The stately rock pedestals with granite
plates offer interesting facts about the historic sites, points of interest and
Kapulua's rich history.
A natural place to begin is the Honolua
Store built in 1929 and is located in the heart of the resort. Walking
west of the store, visitors arrive at The Kapalua Villas Reception Center, the
oldest remaining building built in 1912 during the plantation days. Follow
the walkway towards the ocean to learn more about the Hawaiian Camp, Honokahua
preservation site, Kumulani Chapel and many other points of interest.
