Pineapple Plantation Tours
Hawaii's king of fruits is the subject of Maui's only Hawaiian Pineapple Plantation Tours offered by Maui Pineapple Company, Ltd., beginning February 24, 1997. With the breathtaking views along the slopes of the West Maui Mountains, the public will tour the plantation of Hawaii's only pineapple canner.
Led by long-time plantation workers, colorful commentary weaves the history of the area with current facts on ananas (pineapple) in these special 2 ½ hour tours. Participants will ride the yellow company vans into fields being harvested that very day, learn first-hand about the unique growing and harvesting cycle of Hawaii's "king of fruits," and view some of Maui's most spectacular scenery. As a momento of their tour, visitors will have the opportunity to pick their own pineapple to take home an authentic plantation experience.
Unlike any other pineapple company in the world, Maui Pineapple Company, Ltd. grows premier Hawaiian fruit to be canned and to be sold fresh. Their canned pineapple and juice can be found in your local supermarket and bears their special stamp of quality "100% Hawaiian U.S.A." In an era when major pineapple companies have moved their canning operations overseas, Maui Pineapple Company remains committed to Hawai'i where the ideal growing conditions make genuine Hawaiian pineapple no ka 'oi (the best.)
